Several editions of this publication have appeared., monkeys, apes, animals acting as human beings, Speculative Market of 1720, Period, A wide engraved scene shows a landscape with tall trees framing both sides and a distant shoreline with buildings and hills; in the sky a cloud supports winged figures including a seated figure with a staff, a smaller winged figure reaching toward a standing figure who offers an object, and two birds holding a flowing banner above them; below on the ground a group of naked primate-like figures sit and handle round leafy heads while others stand nearby and a clothed jester-like figure stands at the left placing such heads beside a row of tree trunks; to the right a pack of wolves chases a flock of sheep across an open plain and smaller figures and vegetation fill the middle distance, all rendered with fine engraved lines and shading.
