Being a concise treatise on its first rise, 1751., courtyard, Exchange, Bourse, Amsterdam, Stock Exchange of Hendrik de Keyser, A wide architectural engraving shows a large rectangular courtyard flanked by long two-story colonnaded buildings with rows of arches at ground level and evenly spaced windows above, each roof punctuated by dormer structures; at the far end a central building with an elevated clock tower and a domed lantern rises above a colonnade and a series of smaller roofed pavilions; the open courtyard contains groups of people in period clothing gathered, walking, and conversing, with some standing near low rectangular platforms and others near the central walkway; above, a sky filled with cloud formations rendered in fine horizontal and curved linework stretches across the scene.
