Leiden: Pieter van der Aa, 1728, vol. 20., church (exterior), Noordmonsterkerk, A large stone church with tall pointed roofs and multiple arched windows fills the left and center of the scene, its tower rising with small corner turrets and a slender spire. The church walls show vertical buttresses and large stained-glass window openings, and a smaller octagonal cupola sits atop a roof ridge. To the right of the church a row of stepped gabled buildings stands along the street, each with distinct rooflines and chimneys. In the open area in front of the church many small groups of people in historical clothing are gathered, some walking, some standing and conversing, and a long procession of similarly dressed figures moves across the square. Near the bottom left a horse-drawn carriage is visible, horses harnessed and facing outward, while scattered individuals and small dogs dot the foreground. The sky above is filled with finely hatched clouds.
