Leiden: Pieter van der Aa, 1728, vol. 20., law and jurisprudence (court building), Abbey of Middelburg, Abdijplein, A wide town square lined with tall, slender trees casting long shadows features a central avenue where a horse-drawn carriage moves toward the viewer and a rider on horseback approaches beside it, while groups of people in period clothing walk, stand, and converse throughout the scene; behind the trees a row of buildings with pitched roofs and a tall tower rise, and smaller architectural details like archways, windows, and gate-like entrances are visible, along with cobblestone paving underfoot and a few dogs near the figures.
