Leiden: Pieter van der Aa, 1728, vol. 20., harbour, prospect of city, town panorama, silhouette of city, quay, A wide harbor scene rendered in a monochrome etching style showing a dock crowded with sailing ships and small boats, masts and rigging densely visible across the water. A central channel runs between quays lined with buildings, bridges spanning the water, and a prominent church tower rising above the skyline. People occupy the foreground and piers, some walking, some gathered in small groups, others handling barrels and ropes. Market activities and dock work are shown with figures loading and unloading goods, horses and carts on the quay, and small boats with rowers in the water. Architectural rows of gabled houses and warehouses frame the harbor, and a sky filled with lined shading and billowing clouds stretches above the city.
