Delft and The Hague, vol. 1.2 indicated as vol. 2 on title page (Amsterdam: Adrianus Douci, 1736)., palace, street (city(-scape) with figures, staffage), Noordeinde Palace, A wide architectural engraving shows a large classical building with a central block and two projecting wings, each wing framed by tall trees that extend into the sky; the facade features rows of windows, columns, sculptural niches, and a gated courtyard with a raised central entrance and steps. In front of the gate a carriage is drawn by horses and attended by figures, while people in period dress walk, converse, and stand around the open plaza; riders on horseback and dogs move across the foreground. The sky is filled with linear cloud shading and a decorative ribbon-like banner floats near the top. The composition is detailed with fine linework, hatching, and ornamental architectural elements throughout.
