Amsterdam: Johannes Ratelband, 1729., prospect of village, silhouette of village, prospect of city, town panorama, silhouette of city, A wide engraved landscape shows a distant town skyline with many spires and rooflines above a line of trees, a broad meadow in front where groups of cattle graze and rest, and a river or waterway running across the foreground. In the near foreground a cluster of cows lie and stand on grassy ground by the water, and beyond them more cattle dot the open field. On the left foreground a horse-drawn carriage with figures nearby stands on a dirt track, with two figures walking a short distance away and another figure carrying something near the water. Trees and bushes frame the middle ground, and a small bridge or causeway crosses the water near the center. The sky above contains layered cloud formations rendered with fine lines.
