This map was used in Halma's Tooneel der Vereenigde Nederlanden (1725) and is likely to be found in volume 1, p. 1c., maps of separate countries or regions, Roman period in the Netherlands, Batavians, Frisians, Friesland, A detailed antique map printed in sepia tones fills the image, showing coastlines, islands, inland lakes, rivers, and varied landforms rendered with fine engraved lines and shading; the left upper corner features an elaborate cartouche with classical figures in draped clothing and helmets, shields and spears, a reclining figure and standing warriors, and scattered weapons and objects at its base; the sea areas are sparsely decorated and the land is marked by numerous small symbols indicating settlements and terrain, with winding rivers and marshy estuaries traced by dotted and hatched textures; decorative coastal cliffs and stylized waves border the shoreline, and the overall composition combines meticulous geographic engraving with ornamental illustrative elements.
