She holds a rolled scroll in one hand and rests the other hand on her lap, where another partially unfurled scroll lies. Draped fabric surrounds her and forms deep folds across her skirt and around her shoulders. Textured crosshatching fills the background and shading across the figure, and a closed book sits near the base of the composition beside the hem of her dress.
