Serpents are intertwined among the hair, their sinuous bodies and small heads woven through the curls. Feathered wings emerge near the top of each head, detailed with fine lines for the feathers. The background consists of closely spaced vertical hatch marks, and the whole image is executed in a monochrome pen-and-ink or etching style with textured shading and crosshatching.
