On either side of the image the title and legend in Dutch., printmaker, Northern Netherlands, paper, etching, height 153 mm x width 258 mm, bonfire, fire-works (illumination, fire-works, festive activities), Peace of Utrecht (1713), The Hague, Hofvijver, Period, A detailed engraved scene shows a central ornate pavilion with a domed top and decorative panels, surrounded by a fenced platform and stairways. Two seated figures occupy the platform on either side of the pavilion, each holding objects. In front of the fence are sculpted figures and a lion sculpture on a pedestal. Tall fountains spray upwards on both sides, producing plumes of water and swirling vapors and lightning-like patterns in the background. Decorative urns and pedestals with flourished bases stand at the foreground corners, each supporting a bowl-like fountain. The composition is framed by architectural balustrades and railings, with patterned ground and ornamental motifs filling the lower foreground. The engraving uses fine linework, crosshatching, and stippling to render texture and shading.
