In the foreground a wide central pathway runs toward the house, bordered by patterned parterre beds with ornamental planting and low walls. Two tall obelisks topped with spherical finials stand along the central axis. Groups of people wearing period clothing gather and stroll along the path and around the garden; some women wear long dresses and some men wear coats and breeches, with a few figures holding or gesturing with objects. Several smaller pathways and stairs connect terraces, and a dog lies near the front. The sky above is filled with horizontal-lined cloud shading and scattered birds.
