Amsterdam: Hendrik Bosch, 1721., ruin of a dwelling, house, castle, landscape with ruins (city(-scape) with figures, staffage), Waardenburg, A detailed ink landscape shows a riverside scene with a row of old buildings and ruins along the water, including structures with pitched roofs, visible windows, and a tall broken tower, while trees and bushes appear behind and beside the buildings; a bridge or walkway extends at one side and small boats rest at the water’s edge; two figures stand on the near bank, one leaning on a staff, both wearing knee-length coats and hats, and a swan or waterfowl floats on the river; a tall tree with bare branches rises at the right, and large cloud formations streak the sky with fine horizontal lines and flocks of small birds scattered above.
