Het Huys den Ooy, by Nimwegen, View of Ooy Castle from the water, print, Netherlands, c. 1770 - c. 1830, printmaker, paper, etching, height 165 mm x width 206 mm, castle, landscape with tower or castle (city(-scape) with figures, staffage), Ubbergen, Ooij, Ooy Castle, Ooy, A detailed sepia-toned etching shows a waterfront scene with a large multi-story brick building featuring steep pitched roofs, dormer windows, decorative chimneys, and a tall ornate turret topped by a finial, sitting behind a low embankment and a row of trees. In the foreground a small rowboat with a standing figure holding a pole moves on calm water near the grassy bank where swans float and reeds grow. To the left several other boats lie on the water near a stone quay and an arched bridge opening in the embankment. Additional smaller roofed structures and towers with decorative spires appear beyond the main building under a sky filled with layered clouds and a few flying birds. Two figures stand on the embankment near the main building, and reflections of the scene are visible in the water.
