Figures in period dress stand and walk along the bank in small groups. Below, on the river, several sailing vessels with furled and unfurled sails float or are moored, with reflections visible in the rippling water and a small rowed boat carrying seated figures. The sky is filled with hatched shading and stylized cloud formations, and the composition is framed by thin engraved borders.
