Amsterdam: Hendrik Bosch, 1721., ruin of a dwelling, house, castle, landscape with ruins (city(-scape) with figures, staffage), Katwijk (Zuid-Holland), A sepia-toned line drawing shows a row of simple buildings with varied rooflines and textured walls, some with visible doorways and small windows, and one structure with a slanted roof extending over a small shed. In front of the buildings a person pushes a wheelbarrow while another stands nearby, and a third figure leans forward beside them. To the right, tall trees with detailed foliage rise above the buildings, and to the left a taller house with a gabled roof and narrow windows stands. The sky is filled with horizontal lines and layered cloud shapes, and the foreground shows a flat ground with subtle shading and irregular patches suggesting texture.
