In the foreground there is a crowded riverbank with many figures engaged in activity: mounted soldiers on horseback, men carrying or hauling goods, people in different postures including fallen bodies on the ground, and groups clustered around carts and barrels. Boats and a canal with bridges appear near the center, flanked by trees and riverside buildings. Architectural details such as spires with small flags, windows, doors, and textured roof tiles are visible, and the composition is framed by intricate linework and engraving strokes throughout.
