To the right of the obelisk a building with a pediment, architectural details on its façade, and a flight of steps is visible, and further right are slender cypress trees and a palm tree. To the left of the obelisk there are pitched roofs, a tree with spreading foliage, and the corner of another building with a tiled roof. In the foreground a small fountain with a round basin and a sculptural element rises from a circular base, and several small human figures in period dress stand or walk around the square. The scene is rendered in fine black line engraving on a light, slightly textured background, with a wide blank area above the obelisk.
