The horses are shown rearing on hind legs with forelegs lifted and heads turned upward, detailed with line shading to indicate musculature and contours, and each pedestal is rendered with linear hatching. The composition is centered across the upper portion of the page leaving a large blank area below and faint horizontal guide lines and small smudges and aging marks are visible on the paper.
