Volumes one and two appeared in 1612. The third volume appeared in 1615 and volume four appeared in 1628. In 1637, Vitale Mascardi published the first reissue of the entire set with numbering, city-view, and landscape with man-made constructions, Capitoline Hill, A detailed ink engraving of a large rectangular complex with a central open courtyard surrounded by walls and multiple classical buildings, including a prominent multi-tiered palace-like structure at the far side with columns, pediments, statues on terraces, and a central statue atop a small tower, flanked by two tall obelisks; smaller domed and temple-like buildings sit on the surrounding hills, and there are colonnaded facades, staircases, archways, and sculpted figures placed on pedestals and along balustrades, all rendered in fine line work with shaded hatching.
