Parts one and two appeared in 1612. The third part appeared in 1615 and part four in 1628. In 1637, Vitale Mascardi published the first reissue of the entire set with numbering., milestone, Forum Romanum, Miliarium Aureum, A central tall column topped with a spherical finial stands vertically near the middle of the image, flanked by a series of human figures in period dress and varied headgear. On the left side, a group of figures includes individuals wearing long cloaks, robes, and turbans, some holding bows, spears, or staffs; one figure appears bare-chested with a short skirt-like garment and another wears a pointed hat. On the right side, figures wear a mix of capes, plumed helmets, hats with feathers, and robes, with some holding bows, arrows, or staves. At the lower left and lower right, additional figures in ornate clothing and ruffled collars stand or gesture, and two figures near the bottom center wear wreaths or draped garments. The background is plain and unadorned, and a wide block of small, dense text occupies the bottom portion of the image. The overall style is a monochrome engraved illustration with detailed line work and shading.
