In front of the hermit lies a sphinx on a pedestal on which Truth is depicted. To the right, a satyr points to the scene behind him; a putto drills a hole through the globe which is being unveiled by an old satyr. To the left in the background stand two (possibly antique) statues. De doorzichtige hermiet. Sl: sn, 1764. The magazine De doorzigtige heremyt was originally published in 1728-1729 and reprinted in 1730. In 1764, a second edition appeared with the title De doorzichtige hermiet. The title page of this second edition is the second, altered state of, remarkably, the title page for De Amsterdamsche Argus by Weyerman's competitor Hermanus van den Burg. Print originating from a scrapbook containing title prints, ornaments, etc. on blue paper, disassembled in 1983.
