To the left a horse bends its head toward the ground near a small building element, and behind them a gently rolling landscape leads to a distant cluster of fortified buildings with towers and battlements. A tall tree with foliage rises near the center right, framing part of the scene, and farther right a river or body of water stretches toward a distant shore with more buildings visible on the horizon. The sky is filled with crosshatched shading and cloud forms, and the image is bordered by a plain rectangular frame on a slightly aged paper.
