Not all pasticci have survived., Venus and Adonis as lovers, A detailed black and white engraving shows a seated man and woman closely leaning together under trees, both wearing draped garments that reveal parts of their torsos and limbs; the man has short curly hair and a beard and looks upward while the woman, with wavy hair, tilts her head toward him and holds a curved object in her hand, her exposed chest visible through the drapery. Above them a small winged child hovers, reaching to place a laurel wreath on the man’s head, and a background of densely hatched foliage and tree trunks fills the upper area behind the figures. To the left of the couple there are rounded vessels or containers resting on the ground near the tree, and the lower portion of the image shows folds of fabric and the figures’ bent legs rendered with fine linework.
