Print is part of an album., printmaker: Pieter Schenk (II), Amsterdam, 1727 - 1775, paper, etching, height 168 mm x width 265 mm, landscapes in the temperate zone, Chinese, children's games and plays, landscape with bridge, viaduct or aqueduct, A wide ink drawing shows a river landscape with distant rounded mountains and rocky shorelines, framed by trees and plants including a tall palm-like tree near the center; a boat rests partially on the shore at the lower right beside a stone outcropping and rippling water; along the riverbank a standing woman holds a basket and looks toward the scene while a group of children and a woman in patterned robes occupy the foreground, with one child holding a flower and another reaching upward toward a small cross-like object offered by a child; two seated figures converse beneath trees on the left bank and birds fly over the water; the ground includes patches of pebbles and low vegetation and the whole image is rendered in fine linework with minimal shading.
