Print is part of an album., printmaker: Pieter Schenk (II), Amsterdam, 1727 - 1775, paper, etching, height 167 mm x width 265 mm, Chinese, angling, rowing-boat, canoe, river, A detailed ink line drawing shows a riverside scene with a wooden boat carrying several seated figures and a standing person using a long pole, ornate hull decoration visible along the boat's side; nearby water plants and a paddle rest in the water. Along the shore there are stilted pavilions and a covered dock with a seated figure holding a pole, decorative roof tiles and lattice panels on the buildings, and a small enclosed structure with patterned panels. In the background a willow tree with drooping branches stands beside a larger pavilion topped with a rounded roof ornament, while further back a small shrine-like structure and a tiny building with a steep roof sit near a curved footbridge spanning a stream, and distant hills and a sailing vessel appear on the horizon. The composition is framed by a thin border.
