Print is part of an album., printmaker: Antoine Aveline, after design by François-Thomas Mondon, 1736, paper, etching, engraving, height 231 mm x width 177 mm, rocaille ornament, ruler, sovereign, dulcimer, zither, A detailed black and white etching shows two seated figures on an ornate, shell-like throne with sweeping, curved decorative forms behind them and draped fabric folding around their seats; the left figure wears layered flowing garments and a small plume on the head, posed with an arm resting on the lap and a contemplative facial expression, while the right figure, also in layered robes and a feathered headpiece, leans slightly forward holding a rectangular object and looks toward the other; to the right of them stands an elaborately carved urn on a pedestal, and heavy curtains with fringed edges hang from the upper corner, the foreground filled with swirling, textured architectural and drapery patterns.
