Print possibly forms part of a series of 200 prints. This series was first published by JM Greery in 1816 under the title 'A Collection of two hundred original etchings'., sleeping, unconsciousness, A detailed pen-and-ink portrait of an older person wearing a large, wrapped headscarf and heavy outer garments, the face shown with closed eyes and a downturned mouth, marked by fine lines and wrinkles. The headscarf has multiple folds and textured shading, and long wavy hair emerges beneath it. The clothing includes a fur-like collar and layered fabric with visible stitching and crosshatching. The background is densely hatched on one side and more sparsely hatched on the other, creating contrast behind the figure. The overall image is monochrome with intricate line work and varied crosshatching to indicate shadow and texture.
