The print was first published in part 1: Topographia Galliae, 1655., church (exterior), Église du Monastere des Chartreux, A pastel sky with soft horizontal bands of blue and pale yellow and round lilac clouds fills the upper area, above a street scene framed by trees and ruined brick walls, with a large stone church showing pointed roofs, tall arched windows, buttresses and a slender spire, flanked by rows of buildings with steep red roofs and chimneys emitting darker smoke, and small groups of people in period clothing walking or standing on a wide pale street.
