The print was first published in part 1: Topographia Galliae, 1655., church (exterior), Saint-Germain-des-Prés, Église Saint-Germain-des-Prés, A wide pale sky with layered pastel clouds fills the top of the image, transitioning to a light horizon above a large stone church with a tall spire and pointed arched windows; the church facade features circular window details and steep blue-gray roofs, flanked by rows of brick buildings with pitched red roofs on one side and a lighter stone building beside a large leafy green tree on the other; small groups of people and a few horses occupy the open square in front of the church, where a stone well or fountain stands, and plumes of smoke rise from several chimneys among the surrounding buildings.
