The print is loose in an album, see page 44., printmaker: Cornelis Brouwer, after drawing by Karel du Jardin, supervision: Cornelis Ploos van Amstel, Amsterdam, 1781 - 1787, paper, print drawing, etching, stencil, etching and stencil, height 118 mm x width 173 mm, sheep, A group of sheep occupy a shaded foreground near a rustic shelter and a large tree, with one sheep standing and others lying or resting close together; detailed wool textures and relaxed postures are visible. The shelter has a rough wooden door ajar and weathered boards, and the large tree beside it shows textured bark and spreading branches with clusters of leaves. In the background there are soft, tree-like shapes forming a distant landscape and a grassy area with small plants and flowers at the lower edge. The scene is rendered in monochrome with varied shading and fine line work.
