Dark, heavily hatched areas form a textured background with dense vertical and diagonal strokes, while lighter, more sparse crosshatching defines planes and surfaces around the central figure. At the lower right there is another contorted body rendered with visible bone and muscle detail. Overall the image is composed of tight, energetic etching lines with contrasting zones of deep shadow and pale highlights.
