In the left background, a figure crouches near the edge of a clearing or water. A low wooden fence runs across the middle ground. In the lower left foreground, a fox lies partially concealed in the foliage with its head turned to the side. The sky area is mostly empty with faint texture, and the overall image is rendered with fine cross-hatched lines and varied shading.
