A central standing female figure with large feathered wings and draped clothing holds an open book or sheet with an illustrated page visible; she has long hair and a halo-like circle behind her head. To her left a seated partially draped female figure with exposed shoulder and arm reaches toward the open page while holding a long plant stem; she sits on an ornate architectural element with carved scrollwork. To the right a kneeling male figure seen from behind holds a long scroll and wears a laurel wreath on his head. Surrounding them are architectural fragments, tall grasses or reeds, a distant city skyline with towers, a heraldic shield featuring a lion within a laurel wreath, a crown and various small vessels and tools scattered at the bottom, and elaborate decorative lettering across the top of the image. The artist’s signature and a date appear near the lower right corner.
