The figures wear tattered, flowing garments and some have cloaks or hoods; one figure at the left leans forward with a staff and a small lantern on the ground, while several central figures face each other in animated postures and gestures. A crouched figure with long hair is positioned near the front, and a few faces with beards or head coverings are visible among the crowd. Heavy cross-hatched shading fills the background, creating strong contrast with the lighter, more detailed lines used for the clothing and faces.
