On each side of the base of the columns stand male figures wearing aprons, each bearing elaborate headpieces from which smoke or foliage rises; small animals sit near them on pedestals. Below the central panel a carved ornamental relief and a framed plaque sit among leafy wreaths, with a seated dog on one side and another dog pawing at an object on the other. Decorative gears, ribbons, masks, and sculptural faces are integrated into the columns and base, and various small objects such as a cup, vessels, and utensils are arranged on ledges around the architectural elements. The overall image is rendered in a sepia-toned engraving style with fine line shading.
