View of the Steenstraat in Antwerp, Rue du Steen a Anvers, print, check stamp: 'Antwerpsche Etsers 1880', printmaker: Emily Good (signed by artist), 1881, paper, etching, intaglio printmaking technique, height 251 mm x width 182 mm, A narrow cobbled street flanked by tall, closely spaced buildings with visible brick and timber textures winds toward a dark arched passage. On the left, a façade shows large multi-pane windows and worn plaster with patches of exposed brick, and a sculpted crucifix figure mounted near an ornate wrought-iron street lamp above a stone basin. Further along, overhanging gabled roofs with detailed shingles and exposed wooden beams project over the street. The right side features tall walls with narrow windows and vertical lines suggesting shutters or beams, and a raised narrow pavement runs along the curb. The scene is rendered in fine engraved lines with strong crosshatching, creating tonal variation and architectural detail.
