Several multi-story buildings with pitched roofs and detailed shingles line the shore, some connected by walls and narrow alleys. Multiple sailing vessels with furled and partially raised sails are anchored near the quay, their masts and rigging rising above the water. A large boat rests close to the right edge with stacked nets or cargo on its deck, and a small rowboat floats nearer the foreground. Figures stand or sit along the shoreline and on the quay, and a few small figures appear in boats near the middle distance. The water reflects the boats and masts with fine horizontal ink strokes, and a low jetty or breakwater extends from the left toward the center. The sky is left mostly blank, providing contrast to the detailed linework of the cliffs, buildings, and vessels.
