Most of the portraits were produced by Nicolas de Larmessin (162), 93 by De Boulonois and a third by unidentified printmakers. This concerns an illustration on p. 319, part II., Person, Michael Tarchaniota Marullus, historical persons, portrait of a writer, A sepia-toned engraved portrait of a man shown from the chest up, facing slightly to his left with his gaze turned toward the viewer, wearing a soft, brimless cap and a loose, draped garment with visible folds; he has shoulder-length wavy hair, pronounced facial lines, deep-set eyes, a long nose, and a slightly pursed mouth, all rendered with fine linework and crosshatching; the portrait is framed by a lined rectangular border and set on a page with decorative typographic elements and blocks of text below, including a large ornate initial letter and a centered name in capital letters beneath the image.
