In front of the bench a young person in a light-colored robe sits on a lower step with hands clasped in their lap and a solemn expression. To the left of the seated youth is an empty wooden chair with a woven seat and back, and to the right a small table covered with a patterned cloth holds a closed book and a small dark box. The background features tall vertical architectural panels and a wall with subtle shading.
