Antwerp: sn, 1870-1880., cat, ink-well, A monochrome drawing shows a tabletop scene with a sleeping cat curled up on scattered sheets and books, its tail raised and body resting over a fur pelt. Nearby lie an overturned inkwell and a quill, an ornate candleholder with a partly melted candle, a small bottle, and a set of scales. On the wall above the table is a framed picture depicting people gathered around a table, and pinned papers and sketches adhere to the wall beside it. The surface and wall are textured with fine crosshatching and the composition emphasizes the close arrangement of objects and the relaxed pose of the cat.
