On the left a man in a tall rounded cap and striped shirt leans forward holding a small candle on a shallow holder close to the door, one foot raised on a wooden shoe and a pair of long objects strapped across his back. In the center a man in a decorated uniform with epaulets and a tall feathered helmet stands facing right, one hand resting near his belt and the other holding a curved object at his side. To his right a woman in a full dress with puffed sleeves and a ruffled bonnet clasps something at her collar and looks slightly upward. Beside her a small child in a patterned dress and bonnet stands close to her skirt, holding the adult’s hand and gazing downward. The drawing is rendered in fine lines with crosshatching and shows worn paper texture and a thin border around the image.
