On the left a large ship with rigging and spars dominates the foreground, while nearer the center a smaller vessel and a pier with vertical posts and a low building sit along the waterline. To the right another ship with a single tall mast is oriented toward the viewer, and a rocky headland rises behind it with a small structure on top. The sky is filled with horizontally hatched clouds and fine linework that echoes across the composition.
