Plate 5., (public) prayer, nun(s), A dimly lit scene rendered in dark crosshatched tones shows a row of girls kneeling with hands clasped or held to their chests, wearing light-colored dresses with sashes; some faces are turned to the side while others look forward, and a few girls hold cloths or small objects. On the left a woman stands partially in shadow watching the group, and on the right a shadowy figure stands near a ledge with a small arrangement of flowers below. The background is textured with dense line work and darker areas around the edges.
