In front of the building a crowd of uniformed men is gathered along a gated entrance and the terrace steps, some standing in formation while others cluster near carriages and horses. Trees and shrubs frame parts of the scene, and lamp posts with spherical glass tops appear near the entrance. Boats and distant shoreline structures are visible across the water behind the building, and the overall image has a sepia tone.
