A slender pointed spire rises behind the towers above the roofline. Trees and a low balustrade sit in front of part of the building, and a riverside embankment with stone steps, a retaining wall, and a bridge span the foreground. To the left and behind the cathedral are multi-story buildings with regular windows and mansard roofs, and lamp posts line the open paved area between the cathedral and the embankment. The scene is shown in a monochrome, grainy tone.
