The river reflects the building and trees, and a snow-covered bank slopes down to the water in the foreground. Across the river a bridge or embankment is visible with large spoked wheels mounted on stands nearby, and behind that a row of multi-story stone buildings with chimneys and architectural detailing extends along the skyline. Leafless branches frame the left edge of the image and a tall, slender pole or mast rises among the trees. The overall tone is monochrome with areas of light sky, dark tree silhouettes, and textured reflections in the water.
