At the focal point a raised platform is framed by heavy draped canopies topped with ornate crowns and decorative finials, flanked by sculpted pedestals and a throne-like chair. Numerous men in dark formal coats and military uniforms with sashes and medals are gathered in the foreground, some seated on curved benches and others standing, while a central figure on the platform gestures outward toward the assembly. The balconies are populated with onlookers leaning on railings or seated in box-like openings, and the upper gallery shows additional spectators peering through arched openings. The ceiling features recessed panels and decorative reliefs, and the overall atmosphere is crowded and ceremonial, rendered in detailed shading and fine brushwork.
