In front of the buildings a paved open square stretches across the foreground with a few benches and simple wooden tables set up near the buildings, and a small canopy or awning over a doorway. Several sculpted figures and ornamental columns rise from the building tops and near the square, and a large church-like structure with a tall arched window appears at the right edge. A couple of people stand near an entrance and a small market stall with a cloth covering and stools is visible near the right side. The photograph has a pale sky above and a wide light-toned margin below.
