Fig. 1 Fig. 2', maker: Maurits Verveer, c. 1878 - in or before 1879, paper, collotype, photogravure, height 285 mm x width 225 mm, Prints at the back of the book., echinoderms: starfish, A faded, sepia-toned page showing two rectangular photographic prints stacked vertically, each depicting a round, densely coiled mass of long, tubular, rope-like forms intertwined with curled, ribbon-like elements and thin stringy fragments; the upper print centers on a circular arrangement with a star-shaped central structure surrounded by numerous looping tubular shapes, while the lower print shows a similar tangled cluster of coils and spirals filling the frame; the paper has light stains and small spots, and the photos have soft contrast and textured edges.
